Notes

Build notes

Sample data: values are illustrative, not measured.

A fully active 3-way top. The LF section is a ported chamber tuned for either the 15DS115 or 15SW115, both have identical Vas and Sd; the SW115 goes slightly lower with its lower Fs while the DS115 gives marginally more output above 80 Hz. The mid chamber is a sealed enclosure for the 6PS38. The HF section mates any 1“ exit driver; DE360 or DE250 both fit.

Driver combinations simulated

Six simulation files cover the per-section and full-system responses for each variant:

Config Kick Mid CD
A 15DS115 6PS38 DE360
B 15SW115 6PS38 DE360
C 15DS115 6PS38 DE250

Per-section sims (lf-15ds, lf-15sw, mid) are useful for evaluating driver substitutions in isolation. Full-system sims assume active crossover at 700 Hz LF/mid and 2000 Hz mid/HF.

Crossover

  • LF/mid: 700 Hz LR4 (24 dB/oct)
  • Mid/HF: 2000 Hz LR4 (24 dB/oct); respect DE360 minimum at 1800 Hz (DE250: 1500 Hz)
  • High-pass LF at 60 Hz to protect kick driver

Wiring

Active tri-amp recommended. Each section is 8 Ω nominal: requires three amp channels.
