Build notes

Sample data: values are illustrative, not measured.

Classic scoop-style front-loaded horn around the 18SW115-8. The wide mouth and shallow fold give strong output from 40-120 Hz with a characteristic scooped voicing suited to reggae and dub systems.

Horn geometry

  • Mouth area: ~5400 cm² (wide-mouth scoop)
  • Throat matched to driver Sd (1210 cm²)
  • Single-fold path; driver fires upward into the fold
  • Expansion ratio: ~1.35

Usage

Horizontal stacking of scoops increases coupling and directivity at low frequencies. Typical crossover to mid horn at 100-120 Hz.
