Notes

Build notes

Sample data: values are illustrative, not measured.

15“ front-loaded horn covering the mid band from roughly 120 Hz to 3-4 kHz. Horn loading buys ~10 dB efficiency over a direct-radiator midrange at the same power, which is why it is common in high-output systems.

Horn geometry

  • Mouth area: ~3600 cm²
  • Throat area: matched to driver Sd
  • Expansion ratio: ~1.3 per section
  • Folded path inside the cabinet to keep depth manageable

Usage

Cross to a sub or kickbin below (~80-120 Hz) and to a high-frequency horn or top above (~1.2 kHz, a 15“ cone beams hard past that, whatever the horn does). High-pass at 100 Hz is strongly recommended to protect the driver.
